#solestories

Join me on Instagram and follow my flash fiction. Every weekday during my commute, I snap a photo of a commuter’s shoes and write a bit of flash fiction based on that photo. My friend, the brilliant playwright Heather McDonald, calls the project #solestories.

What started as a way for me to write every day, no matter what, has turned into a project in its own right.

Here’s the story for 8/1/18:

Laura wasn’t sure exactly when it happened, but now she was dragging her kids through HER Georgetown: over there used to be The French Market and there used to be the Georgetown Cafe and then going south was Au Pied de Cochon and Commander Salamander and the Third Edition and the Key Theater and that weird kite store and then her kids were way up ahead where the Biograph used to be and so she found a tissue in the bottom of her purse just in time to pretend to sneeze. #photofic #solestories
